1. Faculty Senate Meeting - Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Chris Messenger, Chair at 4:30 pm.

• Attendance "Roll Call" & Establishing Quorum, confirming a senator is present to represent each school.

  • No objections, the agenda is adopted.

  • Approved and uploaded to the website.

2. Dr. Randall Urban presents information on Special Orders Program.

• Dr. Urban provided information on school initiatives, "The First Award" which is an award granted to UTMB to obtain new faculty with a focus on diversity.
• Inquired by Dr. if Dr. Urban would be able to provide information about the FCIP, but Dr. Urban was not able to do so as he does not have the information.

3. Governor Abbott and the Texas DEI New Proposal 

• Information was relayed regarding the new proposal by Governor Abbott that indicates the removal of DEI initiatives from state higher education institutions. Currently, there is no change in the law and thus no changes have been made to UTMB initiatives. 

4. Officer, Board, and Standing Committee Reports:

• Unfinished Business & General Orders: - No unfinished business from last meeting.
