Our pain medicine faculty members come from a diverse cultural, educational, and ethnic background with a shared passion in medical education as well as clinical care. We continue to experience unprecedented growth as an institution since the turn of the century. As a department we develop three fellows mentored by approximately ten dedicated pain faculty members at UTMB alone. A variety of clinical approaches to complex problems enables our pain fellows to develop their own unique strategy with a foundation built upon responsible, ethical, and compassionate care of their respective future patients. This includes complex multimodal pharmacological management, psychological assessment, and interventional approaches individualized to our patients' needs. Additionally, our pain fellows learn to coordinate multidisciplinary care team referrals including physical therapy and occupational therapy.
