Faculty Profile

  • Dr. Sarria joined UTMB in 2004 and was appointed fellowship program director in 2008. He serves as subspecialty consultant and inpatient ward attending and runs an outpatient practice in general infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS and travel medicine. He teaches and mentors medical students, internal medicine residents and infectious disease fellows. He has received numerous prestigious awards denoting his commitment to patient care and education (America's Top Physicians, Best Doctors in America, Super Doctors®, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Academy of Oslerian Medicine Outstanding Teaching Award). In addition, he has served as an investigator in HIV/AIDS clinical trials of antiretroviral agents and opportunistic infections and is the author of several peer-reviewed publications.
