  • Dr. Liao brings a wealth of experience in both medical practice and education to his new role. He earned his undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2010 and later pursued his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 2019.

    Dr. Liao completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UTMB from 2019 to 2022, where he was recognized for his exemplary performance with the Resident of the Month award in both December 2020 and October 2021. In May 2022, he was honored with the Doctor's Doctor Award in Internal Medicine, a testament to his dedication to patient care and excellence in the field.

    Following his residency. Dr. Liao served as a Hospitalist at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital from 2022 to 2024. His clinical practice has been complemented by his strong commitment to research, demonstrated through his involvement in quality improvement projects at UTMB. These projects focused on critical areas such as improving opioid prescribing practices among Internal Medicine residents and reducing the duration of “NPO" with a pre-procedure clear liquid diet.

    Dr. Liao's earlier career as a registered nurse at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth from 2010 to 2015 laid a solid foundation for his medical career, giving him unique insights into patient care that have continued to inform his practice as a physician.
