Education

Dr. Israa Ali, MD is an accomplished clinician-educator and emerging leader in the field of endocrinology. Dr. Ali is the Ambulatory Medical Director of League City Town Center Stark Diabetes. Dr. Ali brings a wealth of expertise to her role as a General Endocrinologist and the driving force behind UTMB’s Obesity Clinic. With a passion for patient-centered care and a commitment to teaching, she is dedicated to advancing innovative treatments for metabolic and endocrine disorders. Originally from Baghdad, Iraq, Dr. Ali earned her M.B.Ch.B./M.D. from the University of Baghdad, graduating in the top 5% of her class. Her postgraduate training includes an internal medicine residency at Wayne State University and faculty roles at UTMB, where she was recognized for her leadership and mentorship in internal medicine. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism, and Obesity Medicine. Dr. Ali’s academic contributions include numerous publications and presentations on diabetes management, thyroid disorders, and rare endocrine conditions. As a member of the Endocrine Society and the American College of Clinical Endocrinology, she actively contributes to the field through research and collaboration. In the clinic, Dr. Ali blends cutting-edge medical knowledge with a compassionate approach, particularly in her efforts to address obesity and its associated health challenges. Beyond her clinical and academic roles, she is committed to inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals as a dedicated mentor and educator.
