Course Description
This course provides four hours of theory plus practical training in the laboratory. The practical portion includes hours in the BSL-2 lab safely manipulating and handling samples while implementing the safest standards for the user, product and environment. Assessments are provided at the outset and conclusion of training in order to measure progress throughout the course.

The practical portion includes hours in the lab safely implementing basic handling, common injection routes and standard sample collections while incorporating ABSL-2 practices and techniques. The procedures performed are species and procedure specific to meet your needs, emphasizing safety for the user, animal, product, and environment. Assessments are provided at the outset and conclusion of the training course in order to measure progress throughout the course.

BSL-4 Training
The BSL-4 Training Course can be customized to specifically address BSL-4 management strategies, policies and procedures and an overview of the UTMB BSL-4 Training Program. The BSL-4 training program provides training on facility specific emergency response, facility design, safe work practices and facility operations. The BSL-4 training program is a collaborative effort between biological safety staff, biocontainment engineers, laboratory director and principal investigators.
ABSL-4 Training
The ABSL-4 Training Course can be customized to specifically allow personnel to work with small live animals in a suit laboratory environment.
PAPR Training
The PAPR Training Course includes entry procedures, exit procedures and filter changes. Lab procedures can also be performed in order to acclimate to the challenges of wearing a PAPR while performing work responsibilities.
NHP Training
The NHP Training Course provides training in the lab, which is species and procedure specific.
