UTMB Breast Oncology Surgeon H. Colleen Silva, MD, FACS and Minimally-Invasive GI Surgeon Sarah Samreen, MD, FACS have been accepted into the new UTMB Scholars in Leading Program, which seeks to improve provider well-being.
A message from Dr. Silva:
As the newly elected Chief of Staff for the Medical Staff, it is my responsibility to represent the opinions, concerns, needs, and grievances of the Medical Staff to the Dean of Medicine and the President of The University of Texas Medical Branch
Hospitals. I am also responsible for ensuring that communication flows both ways by coordinating the activities and concerns of Hospital Administration, nursing, and other patient care services with those of the Medical Staff. The UTMB Scholars
in Leading program is the ideal forum to allow me to grow and be successful in my role as Chief of Staff.
A message from Dr. Samreen:
My goal with Scholars in Leading (SIL) program is to learn and develop skills for professional fulfillment that can then be transferred to colleagues, leading to a positive culture change not only in the Department of Surgery but the entire institution.
Congratulations, Dr. Silva & Dr. Samreen!
