Trauma Services, in collaboration with The Center for Addiction Research, holds a unique grant with the Texas Department of Transportation that allows for community outreach on the dangers/consequences of drinking/drugged driving. This live production,
coordinated by Miranda Culligan BSN, RN, CA-CP SANE of UTMB Trauma Services, was part of the grant and included many stages of a real-life scenario starting with a staged car accident, a transport to the hospital, jail, and death. While emotional,
the UTMB team believes that this production could save a life by accurately depicting the dangers and consequences of drinking/drugged driving.
