Dr. Linda Phillips, MD, FACS and the UTMB Department of Surgery hosted a lectureship with guest speaker, Dr. Joseph E. Losee, MD, FACS, FAAP. Dr. Losee is the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Executive Vice Chair for the Division of Plastic Surgery, and Chief for the Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery. Dr. Losee spoke with faculty and residents on “The History of Surgical GME in America: Past, Present, and Future,” and the “Evolution of Palatoplasty.” Afterwards, the UTMB Division of Plastic Surgery Team hosted a Leadership Lab lunch and presented Dr. Losee with a plaque.

The award co-sponsors visiting professor trips to academic plastic surgery residency programs throughout the year. Dr. Losee is a distinguished leader in our profession. It was an honor and privilege to host him at UTMB. He has held multiple national leadership positions and is known as an advocate for residents and those of diverse backgrounds. I am delighted to count him as a friend and colleague."
