Total glossectomy with laryngectomy (TGL) is a high-risk procedure primarily used for advanced tongue cancer with laryngeal invasion. This technique, while sometimes necessary, is controversial due to its significant effects on quality of life, including the loss of speech and swallowing functions. A systematic review adhering to PRISMA guidelines was conducted to assess the functional outcomes and overall survival rates of patients who have undergone TGL.
