Giving to the School of Health Professions

Make an Enduring Investment in a Healthier Tomorrow

Do you want to change the world today — and for years to come?

Endowments are a meaningful way your generosity can improve the health of the public for generations. Regular distributions from your endowment will provide a reliable, ongoing source of financial support that funds the work you care about most, forever.

Approximately 25% of our students receive scholarships. Our goal is to double that number, building our base of endowments to award scholarships to half our students.

By creating new scholarship endowments, UTMB friends and alumni can make a powerful investment in the future of health care careers. Please visit Giving to UTMB Health for more information or to give to SHP.

Brandon Phung"Being a scholarship recipient means that not only have I been able to prove my academic accomplishments to myself and my family, but that I also have generous donors who support and believe in my craft as a student and future practitioner. After graduation, I plan to practice occupational therapy in Texas, where I can contribute to the community that has been supportive of me and my endeavors throughout my life."

In memory of Professor Kurt Mossberg, PT, PhD, who passed away on April 2, 2023, an endowment fund has been established to honor his lifelong dedication to academia and research, particularly his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients. Professor Mossberg's extensive body of work, including numerous published articles and prestigious awards, stands as a testament to his profound impact on the field.

Paddon-Jones Memorial Fund

Professor Douglas Paddon-Jones, Ph.D., FACSM passed away in August 2021 after a brief and aggressive illness. He was well-respected as a researcher and educator who sought the improvement in human health through the study of muscle mass regulation and function. UTMB has established an endowment fund to commemorate his legacy and his contributions to research. For more information or to give, visit Paddon-Jones Memorial Fund.

David BrownWe have major plans for investing in the future of health care through our faculty and students who will be innovating and delivering cutting-edge services to the state of Texas and globally.

Pursuing a career in the health professions should not be restricted to only those who, through good fortune, have the resources to pay the increasingly high costs of a professional education. Scholarships are a significant priority in our fundraising efforts to provide an opportunity to students to pursue study without incurring the debt of loan programs."
