
Apply for the BIRCWH K12 Training Program by March 1
The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health is currently accepting applications for its NIH-funded K12 faculty training program, “Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health”. This 2-year program, currently in it's 20th consecutive year of NIH funding, allows scholars to devote 75% effort towards conducting research in women’s health or sex differences and annually provides scholars up to $100,000 in salary support and up to $50,000 for research expenditures. New appointments in the program will become available beginning May 1, 2025.
Ideal candidates will have a good publication record, an interest in women's health or sex differences, and demonstrated skills in seeking or obtaining research support. In addition, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Have a PhD degree or clinical doctorate.
- Have completed all postgraduate training including a postdoctoral or clinical fellowship.
- Have no more than 8 years of research experience after their last doctoral degree.
- Not be or have been a PD/PI on a Center (P50, P60, P20, P30, U54) grant or subproject of a Program Project (P01), individual career development (K-series) award, or independent research project grant award (R01) or equivalent.
- Hold rank of assistant professor or be eligible to be hired at the assistant professor level by the start of their appointment (postdoctoral students must be done with their training by June 2025).
- Be willing to spend at least 50-75% effort on research (50% for surgeons only).
- Be a US citizen or non-citizen permanent resident (Individuals on visas are not eligible).
