Celebrating Women’s History Month
Happy Women's History Month & International Women's Day, 2025!
Which women have had a significant impact on your life or career? Throughout March, we are celebrating the strength, wisdom, and courage of the women who inspire us. This year, we are honoring Alice Williams, a staff member, as our Phenomenal Woman in honor of Women’s History Month, 2025!
Alice Williams, MS, LBSW, is the Manager of Communications & Community Initiatives at the Sealy Center on Aging. She has worked with SCOA for five years and was previously employed at UTMB as a Recreation Therapist from 1986-1990 and 1997-2000. Before returning to UTMB in 2019, Alice was the Executive Director of Libbie’s Place Senior Day Program in Galveston. She is an experienced social worker, having worked in retirement communities, nursing homes and adult day care. Alice has dedicated her career to serving older adults and family caregivers of people with dementia. For over twenty years, she has been an active volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association.
We interviewed Alice, asking, "What inspired your interest in working in aging research?"
“My interest in aging care and research was inspired by all four of my grandparents, who set an example of lifelong learning, compassion for others and active involvement with family and their community.”
"What’s something that might surprise people about you?"
“I grew up in the 1970’s, so there is probably A LOT about me that would surprise people!”
Why not let the women in your lives know how much they’ve inspired YOU this month? Thanks for reading our newsletter.
