The AmeriCorps Seniors program hosted a volunteer appreciation luncheon on January 13, 2023 in Galveston, Texas.
"After delaying our annual volunteer appreciation luncheon for two years, due to Covid concerns, the AmeriCorps Seniors program sent out a thank you in person. We had the largest turnout ever and the room was filled with hugs, smiles, and happy chatter among friends seeing each other once again! The celebration noted that UTMB's Sealy Center on Aging has sponsored this valuable senior-focused community program for 21 years as of this month. Speaking not only as the program director, a volunteer, and a senior, I am so proud of and appreciative to the Sealy Center on Aging director, Dr. Elena Volpi, for the caring and support this department offers the seniors and their families through this program in Galveston County." - Ritchie Adoue, Director of Americorps Seniors of Galveston County
