UTMB Department of Rehabilitation Services is dedicated to providing Best Care to every patient every time throughout the continuum to get you back to your optimal level of activity. We provide high quality care in state of the art facilities on and off the island that is personalized to meet your goals and expectations.

Whether you are hospitalized due to an acute injury, illness or surgery; our acute care team of licensed occupational and physical therapist will provide optimum care to ensure a smooth transition and safe discharge to the next level of care … whether that is home, skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation facility, home health services or outpatient services if needed.

We have three locations offering outpatient physical and occupational therapy services to assist in achieving your highest level of function. Our outpatient services are provided by a team of highly trained therapists with certifications in hand therapy, orthopedics, vestibular, manual therapy, lymphedema, pediatrics and sports medicine.


Departmental Information

Rehabilitation Services is a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals consisting of Physical and Occupational Therapists and their support staff. There are approximately 83 full and part time employees within the department. The department prides itself on providing coordinated and integrated rehabilitation care to individuals with disabilities or impairments in order to maximize function and overall quality of life. In addition, the department creates a climate that emphasizes the importance of clinical research to advance the knowledge base of rehabilitation professionals while increasing patient outcomes. Rehabilitation Services aims to facilitate the education of therapy students by directly participating in classroom lectures at the UTMB School of Health Professions and by providing clinical training to students from across the country.
