The Neuroradiology section consists of 7 Fellowship trained Neuroradiologists and supports 2 ACGME accredited fellowship positions per year.
Our mission is to provide skilled and compassionate care for patients in a setting of academic excellence.
Our expertise is in CT and MRI brain, spine, and head and neck imaging. Advanced imaging techniques include diffusion tensor imaging, fMRI, CT/MR perfusion, and spectroscopy. NeuroQuant software is available for quantitative analysis of dementia and epilepsy. Intraoperative MRI is also available, and we work closely with our Neurosurgery colleagues to provide this advanced functionality.
We serve 5 hospitals including the main campus on Galveston Island, League City Campus, Clear Lake Campus, Angleton Danbury Campus and Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital. Our practice is mainly academic including teaching and training of residents and fellows, teaching of medical students, didactic conferences and research. We also provide clinical services for community and private practice-based campuses.
UTMB is a DNV certified comprehensive stroke center providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic neuroendovascular procedures. The main campus in Galveston is also a level 1 trauma center.
Our neuroradiologists are skilled to perform and teach minimally invasive spine procedures like epidural steroid injections, image guided lumbar punctures, and myelograms.
We participate in numerous weekly interdisciplinary conferences including head and neck and neuro-oncology tumor boards providing a collaborative approach to provide skilled and high-quality care for our patients. We have weekly neuroradiology case conference and monthly journal club dedicated for the residents and fellows.
We strive to offer a high level of service to our patients and referring physicians. Our emphasis is to provide the best care for every patient. We are also committed to providing our physician colleagues in the hospital with advanced and highly skilled neuroradiology support.
