A Message from the Senior Vice President and Dean, School of Public and Population Health
Dear colleagues,
Please join me in welcoming
Dr. Mandy Hill to our family in the School of Public and Population Health! She
is our inaugural Chair, Department of Population Health and Health Disparities.
Dr. Hill joins us from the
McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she was Professor and
Director of Population Health in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Hill
received her BS in Biology from Xavier University, her MPH in Epidemiology from
Tulane University, and her DrPH in Disease Control from the UT Health Houston
School of Public Health. She has more than 20 years of research and experience
in public health practice, and her research interests include health
communication, sexual health, substance misuse, infectious diseases,
implementation science, and intervention development.
Dr. Hill has a long history
of NIH funding with a current R34 from the National Institutes of Mental Health
on “Leveraging video logs as a bridge to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) with
tailored messaging to Black women and their healthcare providers in Texas.” Her
current funding also includes a focus on HIV prevention trials and
interventions. Dr. Hill has received multiple grants from the CDC, NIAID, NIDA,
among many others for her excellent work in HIV, implementation science, and
substance misuse.
We are thrilled to have her
here at SPPH. Welcome Dr. Hill!
Sincerely yours,
M. Kristen Peek, PhD
