I am pleased to announce that Sanjeev Tuli, MD, MEd, FAAP, will join UTMB as Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, effective Oct. 1, 2024. He will hold the John Sealy Distinguished Chair in Pediatrics.
Dr. Tuli joins us from the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he serves as Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics, working closely with the Institute of Child Health Policy.
Driven by his goals to make significant medical contributions while building long-term relationships with patients and their families, Dr. Tuli has a wide variety of interests and expertise that include pediatric dermatology, infectious diseases, allergies, and asthma. His areas of research and advocacy include quality-of-life, early childhood development, social determinants of health, and establishing a medical home for children with special healthcare needs. Dr. Tuli is also an esteemed educator, having been inducted into the Society of Teaching Scholars and Alpha Omega Alpha Society.
Dr. Tuli has been a staunch advocate for children's health care at the local, state, and national levels. He is the President of the Florida Association of Children’s Hospitals and a board member of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FCAAP). Notably, Dr. Tuli served as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Alternate Advisor to the American Medical Association (AMA). He also served on the AAP National Committee on Coding and Nomenclature, conducting policy work that directly affects reimbursement for pediatricians throughout the nation.
We look forward to welcoming him to UTMB, and we are excited for Dr. Tuli to lead the next chapter of excellence for the Department of Pediatrics.
