Richard "Joey" McCusker

Richard (Joey) McCusker joined the Provost’s Office as a Communications Specialist in August 2024. Joey supports the Academic Enterprise with his skillsets in videography and photography, along with reaching the masses through storytelling. He elevates UTMB’s academic success through social media, internal communications, executive messaging, script writing, and more. 

Before joining the Provost’s Office, Joey worked at i45NOW as the Senior Digital News Reporter for three years. He has interviewed many people across the Galveston Bay Area to tell stories that are happening in the community. 

Joey graduated from Sam Houston State University with his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. He’s married to his wife, Kyrsten, and has a daughter, Lilly, two dogs, and a cat. Joey enjoys playing golf, pickleball, softball, and going out with his family.
