I am pleased to announce that Desolyn Foy will be joining UTMB on Nov. 2, 2020, as Vice President, Audit Services. She comes to us from Harris Health System in Houston, among the largest public safety-net health care systems in the nation. She brings over 20 years’ experience in internal audit, compliance, accounting, and data analytics, as well as a passion for the health care arena.
As Vice President, Audit Services, Desolyn will lead our efforts to continually evaluate and measure the effectiveness of our risk management activities and internal controls. This is essential to ensure UTMB, as a public institution, maintains the integrity of our information systems, is in compliance with policies and regulations, and remains a good and efficient steward of resources.
At Harris Health, Desolyn served as the Vice President, Advanced Analytics and Continuous Control Monitoring. She also served in several Harris Health leadership roles, including Director of Compliance, Auditing and Monitoring, and Director of Operational Analysis and Assurance. Prior to transitioning to Harris Health, she served as Internal Audit Manager for the Harris County Auditor’s Office and as Senior Auditor for Pennzoil Company in Houston. She is currently an adjunct professor of Management Information Systems/Data Analytics at Texas Southern University (TSU).
Desolyn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from TSU and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and an Audit Command Language Certified Data Analyst. She is a board member for Hope Clinic, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Houston, and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
I want to extend my thanks to the search committee, which was chaired by UTMB Executive Vice President and Chief Business & Finance Officer Cheryl Sadro. I also want to thank Mark Stacey for leading the Audit Services team as Interim Vice President since February 1. He will continue in his role as Manager for Information Technology Audit Services.
