Congratulations to Dr. Roberto Garofalo as PI and the Garofalo/Casola group for being awarded an NIH R21 grant. The project will focus on understanding the mechanisms of lung disease and innate antiviral immunity in RSV infections during early life. We will investigate how immune proteins, packaged in subcellular fractions released by infected cells, function as antiviral innate mediators against RSV, with a long-term plan to develop new strategies for delivering immune factors to the lung.
