Membership

Membership for the The Center for Vector-borne and Zoonotic Diseases (hereby referred to as Center) are University of Texas Medical Branch faculty actively engaged in the study of, education about, and management of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases.

Center Faculty Membership:

UTMB faculty who have demonstrated research, training, or programmatic interests related to vector-borne and zoonotic diseases may establish membership upon application by sending the following items and information to Shibani Karovalia at  shkarova@utmb.edu:

  • Your CV
  • A brief (50 words or less) statement of research interests and/or activities
  • Keywords related to your activities (optional)
  • A web link (URL) to your departmental profile page or to your lab website
  • A high-resolution photograph

Scientists who are actively engaged in studies related to vector-borne and Zoonotic diseases at other institutions, may receive membership upon nomination by a member of the Center and upon approval of the Center’s Advisory Board.

 

Center Associate Membership:

  1. Non-UTMB faculty who have demonstrated research, training, or programmatic interests related to vector-borne and zoonotic diseases. Membership of non-UTMB faculty requires active collaboration with UTMB Center-affiliated faculty and requires invitation by the Center’s Advisory Board
  2. Pre-doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows working in the laboratories of members of the Center are eligible for Associate Membership in the Center. To ensure that the Center can maintain an accurate list of associate members, members should provide Shibani Karovalia, shkarova@utmb.edu with a list of their current laboratory students and postdoctoral fellows no later than August 15 of each year.
  3. Other pre-doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows employed at UTMB may apply for Associate Membership in the Center by forwarding a letter to Shibani Karovalia, shkarova@utmb.edu indicating their reasons for desiring associate membership in the Center, accompanied by a current CV.
