The
Stevenson/Saldarriaga Lab team is actively involved in several
grant-funded translational research projects including chronic hepatitis
C (HCV) and other infectious diseases, steatotic liver disease, and
autoimmune hepatitis. Their laboratory studies the role of the hepatic
immune response, including macrophages and lymphocytes, in the
development of fibrosis and liver injury. Using custom-designed
algorithms that include deep learning and artificial intelligence, the
team combines clinical and histological information, architectural
context, and molecular data to better understand the hepatic
microenvironment and predict disease risk.
