With summer coming to an end, the University of Texas Medical Branch Community Engagement team are busy making the rounds to various back-to-school events to help teachers, students and staff members usher in the new academic year.
From new teacher welcome luncheons and vendor fairs to pop-up events, UTMB is coming to these events bearing goods and resources to help educators prepare for the year ahead.
One item they’re sharing is a custom-created August-August planner chock-full of health tips and information, along with helpful phone numbers and websites for relevant resources. Coloring pages have also been built in sporadically through the pages to promote relaxation and provide a mental break, should it be needed.
“While planning and preparing for these outreach opportunities, our team has been intentional with every detail,” said Becky Trout Unbehagen, executive director of UTMB Community Engagement. “From the content and design work poured into the planner to the specifics of our physical presence, we’ve worked hard to create an experience that is meaningful.”
Efforts on this front are focused around the regional areas UTMB serves including Galveston and Brazoria counties, as well as southern Harris County.
In total, the team will be making appearances at nearly 30 events from now until mid-August. In addition, they’ll also be spreading awareness about the UTMB back-to-school website created and curated specifically with area educators, parents and students in mind.
