Goals & Objectives
 Goals: 1) To promote understanding and development of leadership skills in the context of advancing health care in the realms of research, education, and/or health systems 2) To provide JSSOM students with introspective skills including self-reflection as a means for professional identity formation and personal growth as a leader 3) To apply one’s leadership skill set in developing and executing a scholarly project to improve an aspect of UTMB’s operations in a chosen area of focus (research, education, health system) Objectives: 1) Create mentor-mentee relationship based on student's leadership development area of focus 2) Develop an understanding of mentor's leadership role(s) and how success is achieved in these position(s) 3) Begin formal creation/outline of intended final capstone research project for Learn to Lead scholarly concentration which will focus on addressing a problem noted at UTMB by student through employing a plan and executing it with assistance of mentor(s)/guidance from UTMB leaders to help foster leadership skills in student.

Description of course activities
 The Learn to Lead Scholarly concentration will have a component of intensive mentorship with a UTMB faculty member in a leadership role in an area(s) of interest for the student in regard to leadership development (research, education, health system). The preceptorship will involve shadowing, observation, and collaboration with the mentor to start outlining a plan for the student's capstone leadership development project which will be completed during the student's final year.

    Use AMA citation style; provide abstract for intended project, literature search, needs assessment, plan for implementation of project (methods)
