Learning Objectives
This Selective provides dedicated time for students enrolled in the Medical Humanities Scholarly Concentration to complete the capstone scholarly/research project required for the Track, in the field of Medical Humanities. The student is expected to complete a written research report or similar product.

Describe the qualifications background and career goals or interests of students who would benefit from the course:
Students have enrolled in the Medical Humanities Scholarly Concentration and have met all prior requirements for that concentration. They have an interest in one or more of the disciplines within Medical Humanities and wish to expand their understanding of the humanities beyond what is offered in the required SOM curriculum, but without undertaking a longer curriculum than that required for SOM graduation (that is, not a candidate for an MA or PhD program).

Description of course activities
Activities will be determined by negotiation with a faculty member of IBHH identified by the student prior to the start of the Selective. That faculty member will agree to be available for consultation and will review and evaluate the final research paper. The student will also present an oral report at the end of the Selective period.
