CRYOGLOBULIN, serum (087-0286)

Specimen Requirements:
Collection:

7 mL of blood in red-topped vacutainer tube.  (Min: 3mL); Sample must be kept at body temperature (37°C) and hand delivered to the laboratory within 30 minutes of collection.    

Storage/Transport:

Prompt delivery to Sample Management within 30 minutes of collection.  

Specimen Preparation:

Place specimen in 37°C water bath for one hour.  Centrifuge and transfer as much serum as possible without touching the buffy coat into a clean 15 mL screw cap graduated centrifuge tube.  Store serum sample at room temperature. 

Stability:

Room temperature for ≤ 7 days.

Causes for Rejection:

Blood drawn in SST, specimen not deliver at the correct temperature, incomplete and/or incorrect sample identification, improper storage/transport, gross hemolysis and lipemia.                                                                                   

Reference Range:

By report (reports may vary based on instrumentation, patient age and sex).

Turnaround Time:

M-F: within 72 hours
