Clinical Indication: | Used for the detection of cytomegalovirus (CMV) in saliva collected from infants less than 21 days of age. |
Patient Preparation : | Collect saliva specimens using the swab in a UTM (VTM) kit by swabbing between the gum and cheek for several seconds. Wait to collect sample 30 minutes for formula or 90 minutes after breastfeeding. Refrigerate if transport is delayed. |
