The Information Technology Services (ITS) Fellowship Experience
Overview
The Fellowship will consist of rotations in each of the service areas within the department. The Fellow will spend a predefined amount of time in each service area exposed to the daily operational tasks as well as the continuous projects with which each area is presented. The Fellow will make a total of three presentations to the Fellowship Committee throughout their rotations to show their knowledge learned during the rotations, as well as to provide suggestions for improving the program.

Administrative Information Systems (AIS)
Administrative Information Systems (AIS) supports UTMB’s business operations by managing key systems for Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Time and Effort Reporting, Budget & Planning, and Student Information. The team provides expertise, manages vendor-supported applications, and oversees Production Support, Project Management, Development, and Database/System Administration to meet business, financial, and compliance needs.

Business Operations
Business Operations manages IT financial activities, including budgeting, reporting, forecasting, service center billing, and HR and Timekeeping support. The team partners with all divisions of Information Technology Services and supports the ITS Service Center and its institution-wide customers.

Clinical Information Systems (CIS)
The Clinical Information Systems team supports the Epic Electronic Health Record and a range of ancillary systems to manage clinical and financial operations across UTMB Health. The team ensures system availability, addresses user needs, and provides support and training for all users.

Infrastructure & Operations
Information Technology Services Operations manages UTMB's IT infrastructure, including campus networks, desktops, Service Desk, internet/email access, Citrix & VPN, and file/print services. The team also offers application hosting, consultation, and reduces IT costs through centralized management and server consolidation in our data centers.

Innovation and Project Management Office
The Innovation and Project Management Office is dedicated to delivering innovative technology solutions and efficient project management to support UTMB’s mission across healthcare, education, research, and correctional care services. We provide our customers with strategic project planning, coordination, and implementation, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and with measurable impact.
Through standardized processes, tools, and methodologies, we facilitate seamless project intake, assessment, and execution while fostering collaboration with healthcare providers, educators, and researchers. By integrating software development expertise with project management best practices, we enhance patient care, support medical education, accelerate research, and drive operational excellence across all areas we serve. -
Research Information Systems (RIS)
The Research Information Systems (RIS) team is dedicated to supporting all major research enterprise applications, ensuring seamless operations across human subjects, animal subjects, biosafety, and compliance. Our comprehensive suite of solutions includes a Clinical Trial Management System, regulatory systems,monitoring systems, web applications, and robust integrations that facilitate efficient data exchange across platforms. We are committed to delivering innovative and reliable technology solutions to enhance research management and compliance.

Unified Communications manages network operations, engineering, voice services, mobile device management, and audio video services. The team ensures reliable communication at UTMB by optimizing network infrastructure and voice, data, and video systems to support seamless communication across all platforms.
