“Dialysis Vascular Access: Time for a Change”

Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand the biology of dialysis vascular access dysfunction.
  2. Describe the new therapies in this area.
  3. Develop a precision medicine approach to dialysis vascular access in the future.
  4. Become familiar with the need for policy and patient inputs in order to create real change.

 

Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
