The Division of Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine is to dedicated to the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, and through our clinical, educational, and research
missions, we hope to achieve these goals.
The clinical mission of our Division is to provide comprehensive diagnosis and management for a broad range of respiratory diseases, to offer outstanding clinical care for patients with respiratory disorders, and to serve as a resource to regional physicians who share
in the care of patients with respiratory diseases. We offer comprehensive outpatient services on the UTMB main campus and the Texas mainland. Our three sleep laboratories are located on the main campus, with another convenient center in Webster, and
our third location at the Angleton Danbury hospital. Our inpatient services include pulmonary consultations, and critical care services delivered in our medical and surgical intensive care units (ICUs).
We offer broad based expertise in respiratory diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; emphysema and chronic bronchitis), lung cancer, lung infections, pulmonary fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension. Diagnostic services include a comprehensive
pulmonary function laboratory, including exercise capability, a modern and well-equipped suite for flexible bronchoscopy, and three sleep laboratories.
The educational mission of our Division includes Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited fellowship programs and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine), medical student teaching, internal medicine resident instruction, and a commitment to the continuing medical education (CME) of our regional physician
partners.
The research mission of the Division of Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine is to develop new knowledge in fields related to respiratory diseases that will improve quality of care and healthcare outcomes.
