Faculty Profile

  • Dr. Richard Warneke is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.  Dr. Warneke completed his undergraduate education at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with honors.  He subsequently attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine earning a Doctorate of Medicine in 1999.  Dr. Warneke completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2005.  In addition, he completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2006.

    Dr. Warneke maintained a Gastroenterology private practice in the Southeast Houston/Clear Lake area for 16 years before joining the UTMB faculty in July 2022.

    He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, Texas Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Medical Association.
