The annual Salute to Nursing Golf Tournament raised more than $71,000 for scholarships for students attending the UTMB School of Nursing.
“We are delighted with the tournament’s success and grateful to the many whose contributions make such a difference in the lives of our nursing students,” said Dean Pamela G. Watson.
It was a perfect day for play on Oct. 12 for the 147 golfers participating in the tournament at the Galveston Country Club.
Following are the tournament winners:
Low gross, first place: Sue M. Harris (sponsor), Titus Harris III, Jack Todd and Emily Harris Todd.
Titus Harris Award: The team also won the perpetual plaque presented to the first place, low gross team.
Low net, first place: Bobby Berg, Taylor Leach, Keith Rassin and Kathy Tiernan.
Low net, second place: Tom Braud, Peter De La Mora, Bryan Jones and Steve LeBlanc.
Closest to the pin: Bobby Berg, Terry Blight, Don Marshall and Joe Russo.
Longest drive: Chuck Machner and Bobby Berg.
McGanity Trophy (presented to the UTMB Health team with the lowest score): Bobby Berg, Taylor Leach, Keith Rassin and Kathy Tiernan.
Watson hosted the event, which had more than 30 sponsors, including six UTMB departments. Sue Harris and David Murphy served as golf tournament co-chairs, assisted by committee members Steve Connor, Bill Ross, Andrea Conti, Cynthia McEldowney, Carol Lee and Kim McKay.
