Jarrel De Matas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioethics and Health Humanities. Dr. De Matas studies culturally informed scientific, medical, and health practices through an intersectional approach to Caribbean science fiction and science and technology studies, He is also interested in policy development for developing countries especially, but not limited to, the Caribbean.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. De Matas is a newspaper columnist and his first book, a collection of columns written during 2023, is titled Opinions in Review: 2023. His forthcoming book, contracted by Routledge, will comprise interviews with Caribbean science fiction writers.
