A message for UTMB Health staff from Chaplain Jenny Schindler
“It is such a joy and a blessing to work alongside the marvelous staff at UTMB. Working in health care has its ups and downs. It is exciting and messy. It is hard and rewarding. Your work is important. You bring healing, comfort and strength to so many. May you be strengthened and encouraged as you care for our patients, families and each other.”
About Jenny
Jenny Schindler grew up in Missouri City/Sugar Land and now calls Galveston home. She obtained a bachelor's degree in public relations from Texas Tech University and master’s degree in Christian Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
She completed her Clinical Pastoral Education residency at Baylor Scott & White in Temple and a chaplain fellowship in pediatrics at McLane Children’s Medical Center, also in Temple. She is a board-certified chaplain through the Association for Professional Chaplains and has been at UTMB since January 2017.
Jenny has been serving in ministry for over 20 years. She enjoys gardening, going to the beach, paddle boarding, biking and photography. She attends Coastal Community Church in Galveston.
One of Jenny’s highlights from 2022 was, after attending a chaplain conference, diving with sharks at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. “The tiger sharks were amazing,” she says!
The basis of Jenny’s ministry is God’s love. 1 John 4:11-12 says, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us, and His love is made complete in us.” Showing God’s love to someone will hopefully help them with whatever they need whether that is healing, forgiveness, finding hope, peace, or meaning in their situation.
