Congratulations, Katie Askew!

Katie Askew has assumed the role of finance manager in the Health System, reporting to the Health System CFO position. This is a renewal of the vacant position formerly held by Emily Mielsch before she assumed the AVP role in Correctional Care.

Many of you have worked with Katie in her former role as senior financial analyst in the Health System Accounting department led by Leah Vaughn. Katie has been with UTMB since March 2019, and she has proven to be great at transaction research, problem solving, efficiency improvements and communication. She currently serves as the lead of the Health System FTE Sub Committee, a role that she will continue.

After completing her bachelor’s of science in accounting, Katie studied management in the Executive MBA program at the University of Alabama while working full time. Katie has about a decade of experience in financial analysis in general accounting, accounts receivable, payables, purchasing transactions, budget, forecasting and process implementation.

Before pursuing a health care career, she gained experience in education, retail, marketing and construction. I expect Katie to be a key resource for the Health System executive team. Please join me in congratulating Katie on her new role.
