What to Include in Your Cover Letter

When you select a faculty member to approach about a potential position as a postdoctoral scientist, make sure the following information is in your cover letter, and include your CV as an attachment or enclosure:

• The month and year you are available for the Postdoc position.
• The research area and type of project you would like to pursue. Include a brief description of research success in this area/project.
• Your current mentor's name and contact information.
