Students from Taiwan Visit UTMB
Six undergraduate students studying healthcare administration at Asia University in Taiwan received an introduction to healthcare systems in America during a day at UTMB on Monday, July 17.
While on campus, the students were hosted by Dr. Wei-Chin (“Miso”) Lee, an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine in the John Sealy School of Medicine. Dr. Lee gave them tours of the state-of-the-art Jennie Sealy Hospital and Health Education Center, as well as other campus sites.
The students also took advantage of the opportunity to learn about the Galveston National Lab, high containment research facilities, and the GNL's research during a session at the HEC. Connie Holubar, Director of Operations for the GNL, met with the group.
For their U.S. trip, their faculty sponsor was Dr. Yulyn Yeh, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Healthcare Administration at Asia University. Dr. Yeh did her postdoctoral research at Texas A&M University, and she was thrilled to have the chance to travel with her students to Texas and share an introduction to the U.S. healthcare system.
