Sealy Society Honorees

The Sealy Society pays tribute to a tradition of philanthropy that extends to UTMB’s founding 133 years ago. We honor the most dedicated of our Sealy Society members—those individuals and organizations whose giving places them in the upper echelons of the university’s benefactors.

Established in 1995, the Sealy Society recognizes the most generous of UTMB's benefactors whose financial contributions help build a university that defines the future of health care and health sciences - in our region, across the state, and around the world.

It is altogether fitting that we link the Sealy name with the giving society created to recognize individuals, foundations and corporations who demonstrate outstanding generosity for UTMB.  The Sealy family's history of support for UTMB is legendary, dating back to the institution's founding in 1891.  The Sealy family and The Sealy and Smith Foundation remain among UTMB's staunchest supporters to this day.

Donors are recognized as lifetime members of the Sealy Society once they reach $50,000 in cumulative giving to UTMB. Sealy Society members are then honored in that recognition year among a distinguished group of new members at an exclusive gathering together with other Sealy Society members who have reached subsequent levels of extraordinary giving.

Sealy Society members are also featured in their recognition year on the bronze plaques installed on the “Walk of Honor” between the Moody Medical Library and the Galveston National Laboratory on the flagship Galveston campus.
