Dear colleagues,
I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has taken the time to complete the AAMC StandPoint Surveys for faculty and staff. The survey is open through this Friday, March 7; I strongly encourage everyone who has not yet taken the survey to do so this week.
Your feedback is extremely valuable as we endeavor to better understand and address the needs of our faculty and staff. The AAMC will provide aggregate data back to UTMB, which we will then review and share with you. We aim to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvements. We will work together to develop an action plan that will lead to greater satisfaction, productivity, and engagement. We appreciate everyone who provided input to support this effort!
We are looking ahead to many more programs designed to enrich our faculty experience at UTMB. Beyond our Faculty Leadership Collaborative: Mid-Career Bootcamp, taking place April 9 to 11, we are getting ready to open registration for the next offering in the series. Advanced Careers in Academia: Life Leadership Collaborative will be held in May to focus on the needs of faculty in advanced career stages. More information is included in this edition.
We are also excited for new developments around research mentoring, with our Advancing Research through Mentorship (ARM) Program formally launching this month. This program is designed to support early-career faculty researchers in securing independent funding and establishing a sustainable research program through personalized mentorship, training, and resources. We look forward to ARM’s programming, including workshops on grant writing and academic writing coming soon.
The work we do in the Office of Faculty Affairs to support our faculty and help you achieve your goals would not be possible without your ongoing engagement and feedback. Thank you to everyone who partners with us to enhance faculty success and satisfaction across our institution.
Sincerely,
Susan Chubinskaya, PhD, MS, FIOR
Vice President and Executive Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
