The Laboratory for Surgical Training, Assessment & Research (LSTAR), has earned reaccreditation through the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as a comprehensive Accredited Education Institute (AEI).
LSTAR, which is housed within the UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine Department of Surgery, is one of six ACS AEIs in the state of Texas. It has a goal to improve patient safety by training learners to proficiency in the simulation environment and aims to enhance surgical education using surgical simulation-based training. Earning initial accreditation in 2013, LSTAR now maintains accreditation through 2029.
