Bright Bodies Program (BBP) for Children ages 8 to 16

The US Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) endorses comprehensive, intensive behavioral interventions for children 6 years and older with obesity. Interventions should include 26 contact hours or more over a period of 2 to 12 months. Bright Bodies is one of only two U.S.-based interventions included in the USPSTF Report’s meta-analysis to demonstrate a clinically important change in BMI.

Schedule: 2 times a week for 12 weeks; one nutrition or behavior class where children and families will learn about healthy lifestyle changes, and one class that has 45 minutes of physical activity led by a trained specialist

Content: physical activity, nutrition, behavior modification, and parent education

Eligibility: (1) age 7 to 16, (2) BMI>= 85th percentile for age and sex

We are continuously starting new classes. Your first class maybe just a week away! Email Rhonda Saiz-Vaca at rhsaizva@utmb.edu to enroll.
