PreventT2^® Prediabetes Program
Our PreventT2® program features an approach that is proven to stop/delay prediabetes from progressing into type 2 diabetes. By improving food choices and increasing physical activity, you can lose 5 to 7 percent of your body weight — that is 10 to 14 pounds for a person weighing 200 pounds. If you have prediabetes, these lifestyle changes can cut your risk of developing type 2 diabetes in half. PreventT2^® is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). UTMB Health is proud to be participating and offering the program to local communities.

Standard Diabetes Self-Management, Education and Support (DSMES Program)
The diabetes education program at the UTMB Stark Diabetes Center is recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for Quality Self-Management Education. The ADA recognition effort is a voluntary process that assures diabetes education programs meet national standards. One of the primary goals of the education recognition program is to ensure high-quality, consistent education for patient self-care, to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and prevent some of the acute and chronic complications of diabetes.
The educational program includes interactive sessions with our certified diabetes care and education specialists and dietitian. During these sessions, you will learn about diabetes, medications and complications, self-management and care, and healthy nutrition. The program also offers a support group discussing diabetes-relevant topics monthly. For more details, ask your healthcare provider.

Intensive Diabetes Self-Management, Education and Support (iDSMES Program)
iDSMES offers you a continuation of your diabetes education. In addition to receiving standard DSMES, you can continue learning best practices for self-management and care along with fundamental skills to make healthier lifestyle choices that last a lifetime! Stay motivated and engaged by sharing this journey with others in the group and our team of certified diabetes care and education specialists, lifestyle coaches, and Journey for Control’s U.S. Diabetes Conversation Map® trainers.

Programa para la prevención de la prediabetes
El programa PrevengaT2^® usa un método que se ha comprobado que previene o retrasa que la prediabetes se convierta en diabetes tipo 2. Al mejorar las opciones alimentarias y aumentar la actividad física, usted puede perder de un 5 a 7 por ciento de su peso corporal, es decir 10 a 14 libras para una persona que pesa 200.
