Williams, Anthony03Anthony Williams received his baccalaureate degree in Medical Records Administration from UTMB's School of Allied Health Science in 1986. He completed preceptor-ship at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, Texas, Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital, and Henderson Memorial Hospital becoming a registered health information administrator. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University in 2001.

Williams began his career as an assistant director of medical records and quality assurance coordinator at UT Health Science Center in Tyler, Texas, and served as vice president of the District IV Texas MR Association. In August 1987, he joined the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a regional medical records administrator and was shortly promoted to system-wide coordinator for medical records. In 1994, Williams joined UTMB Correctional Managed Care as assistant director of health information management. Prior to his present appointment as director of operations he fulfilled the executive director of clinical programs position from 2001 - 2005.

Williams was appointed as a system administrator for UTMB Correctional Managed Care's electronic medical record. He was instrumental in the development of many of the transcribed documents, chart management, appointment scheduling templates, and diagnostic maintenance systems currently used today. His vast knowledge of information management, medico-legal documentation issues, and operational processes has been instrumental in the on-going development and maintenance of the EMR system.
