STEPS FOR SAMPLE REQUESTS

  1. Submit sample request using online form: HERE
  2. Pre-Committee review for completion - if the biorepository team has questions we will send the form back for further clarification
  3. Review and decision by Biorepository Oversight Committee - approve, approve with conditions, request more information, deny
  4. Sign sample/data use agreement
  5. Receive samples

In order to best meet your research needs, please fill out a sample request form HERE.

The Biorepository for Severe Emerging Infections (BSEI) contains specimens from several research protocols for different exposure types with varying amounts of clinical data. Please read the descriptions below to learn more about the different sample types available.

Known Infection - Residual: Residual or discarded biospecimens with limited to no clinical data. Specimens will have a known positive test for the pathogen of interest.

  • SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
  • mpox (monkeypox)

Known Infection - Prospective: Prospectively collected biospecimens with rich clinical data. Pre-exposure or early disease specimens may be available as residual or discarded specimens. Specimens will have a known positive test for the pathogen of interest. Specialty sample types can be collected on request (e.g., PBMC, stool).
Infection diagnoses available: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), mpox (monkeypox)

  • SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
  • mpox (monkeypox)

Exposure/Unknown Infection Status: Prospectively collected biospecimens with rich clinical data. Pre-exposure or early disease specimens may be available as residual or discarded specimens. Specimens will come from participants with a well documented exposure history but may not have tested positive for the pathogen of interest.

  • Ebola virus (species Zaire)

Known Vaccination, No Infection: Prospectively collected biospecimens with rich clinical data. Pre-exposure or early disease specimens may be available as residual or discarded specimens. Specimens will come from participants with a known vaccination against the pathogen of interest and no known exposure to or infection with the pathogen of interest.

  • Collections have not yet started, but are expected in the next year

NOTE: Healthy control specimens are only available for vaccine response studies.
