Roy Trahan, PhD, RN, CCRN

Dr. Roy Trahan is an Associate Professor at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. As Senior Level BSN Track Coordinator Dr. Trahan shares responsibility as course coordinator for Adult Health 3, RN-BSN Evidence Based Practice & Research, and oversight of IPE for the SON. He received his BS in Marketing from McNeese State University, 1989, ADN from Houston Community College, 2000, BSN from the University of Texas Medical Branch, 2008; and his PhD in Nursing Education and Research from the University of Texas Medical Branch, 2014.

Dr. Trahan has worked in various roles in emergency medicine and critical care nursing with an expertise in neurology. He was employed for over 14 years as an emergency and critical care nurse in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Trahan has been in academia for the past 10 years. His current research interests include innovation in critical care nursing education, interprofessional nursing education & management, and violence against nurses.

In 2024, he was awarded the Excellence in Interprofessional Education – Educator Award and in 2022, he was awarded the Excellence in Nursing Faculty Silver Medalist Award from the Good Samaritan Foundation and the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Faculty.

Dr. Trahan was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers in 2024.
