Oma Morey, PhDAdjunct Member
Dr. Oma Morey was, prior to retiring, a Senior Medical Educator in the Office of Educational Development (OED) and an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track; research) in Internal Medicine, specializing in faculty development. She has mentored, designed and taught Communication Skills, Presentation Skills and Teaching Skills and Methodologies for over 25 years to faculty, graduate students, teachers and trainers in both the public and private sectors.
Dr. Morey holds a PhD in Adult Education and Gerontology from the University of Texas in Austin and a PhD in Performative Social Science in Health and Social Care from Bournemouth University in the UK.
She was selected as the AMT “Educator of the Month” for September, 2015. She served as Team Leader for the AMT Faculty Development Team (2010–2013) and has severed on numerous committees including AMT Executive Team, AMT Mentoring and Consultation, AMT Selection Panel, and UTMB Faculty Development Council.
Dr. Morey was the director of the Scholars in Education Program (a 20-month program open to all four UTMB schools focusing on teaching, educational design, educational scholarship and educational leadership) and the Teaching Skills Workshop Series (a joint faculty development offering by the AMT and OED) and the Facilitator Workshop Series.
Dr Morey has been a member of the UTMB Academy of Master Teachers (AMT) since 2009.
