Lee Grumbles, MDAdjunct Member
Dr. Grumbles was an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and the Director of Palliative Care Services. She entered medical school at UTMB in 1993, rather late in life at the age of 36 years, after spending about two decades in the practice and teaching of Respiratory Therapy. Upon completion of medical school, she entered a Internal Medicine Residency through UTMB (1997-2000). After practicing Internal Medicine in San Marcos for one year, she was recruited as a faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine at UTMB. She has provided consistent role modeling of empathetic and compassionate care to patients during their end of life periods for the last 15 years at UTMB. Her research interest concentrated on educational research looking at teaching methods to recognize low empathy in learners and enhance their empathy skill set.
Dr. Grumbles was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers in 2008.
