Director Pediatric Cardiology
Dr. Aly received his MD from Cairo
University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt and completed his
Pediatric residency at Penn State University, Hershey Pennsylvania and
Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at the Michigan Children’s Hospital. He
received a PhD in Genetics from the George Washington University in
Washington DC. He also received two Masters Degrees in Biochemistry and
Microbiology. Before joining UTMB in 2003, he was in private practice in Michigan.
Dr. Aly is deeply involved in clinical, teaching, research and other
activities at UTMB.
He is a member of the UTMB faculty Senate, Academic Progress committee
and undergraduate medical education committee. He is also a member of both the Academy of Master Teachers and Academy
of Master Clinicians.
He currently mentors many students, residents and fellows in their
research projects and is well published in peer review journals.
Dr. Aly received many academic awards, just to mention a few: Excellence
in Clinical Teaching Award, established by UTMB’s John P. McGovern
Academy of Oslerian Medicine; Educator of the Month award; Excellence in
Medical Student Education award; Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor medical
society; Outstanding Mentorship of a Resident Scholarly Project award
and America’s Top Pediatric Cardiologists.
