Day 40: Images aren't automatically accessible

We often use images to enhance or support text in our emails, documents, etc.  As we've been learning, people access electronic information in different ways based on their abilities.  For images, this means people with blindness or low vision won't get the benefit of our images unless we add alternate (alt) text to describe them. Luckily, Microsoft makes it easy to add alt text to our images to make them accessible.

Give it a try:

  1. Open Outlook and create a new email
  2. Add an image (copy and paste works)
  3. Right-select the image
  4. Select Add alternate text from the menu
  5. Add a short description of the image
  6. Select the OK button
  7. You've made your image more accessible
